Network75: About Us
Network75 Ltd is a spin-out company of the University of Glamorgan. It was created in 2002 by its two directors Steve Thomas and Steve Lloyd.
Network 75, started life as a programme to recruit mechanical engineering students at the University of Glamorgan. It attracted European objective one funding, and it received a lot of publicity and interest from other universities. Knowledge Exploitation Funding was secured (KEF) to identify and register the intellectual property of the initiative, which naturally lead to the commercial exploitation of opportunities within a large network.
Our business focuses on three main areas.
- we provide placements for overseas students in Welsh companies.
- an electronic web-based student monitoring system that can improve retention of university students. We own the trademark name Uni-Nanny.
- specialist training for the water industry. We identified a niche market to provide specific training to help workers appreciate the dangers of working on potentially lethal water pipes.

One of the benefits of being part of a large network is that you are constantly meeting very interesting people, with great ideas. One such person was Ashley Clough who worked for Laing O Rourke in Wales. He was passionate about the safety of his workers and he identified that there was a potential lethal scenario being played out daily.

Over the past five years we have found placements for hundreds of students. They come from countries such as France, Spain, Finland and Germany but we are always looking to explore new areas.
It's been a hugely successful programme with students benefiting from being embedded into a totally different culture, and companies benefiting from having a highly motivated foreign student in their workplace. The students are mainly undergraduates and will be studying in the following areas: mechanical engineering, electrical/electronics engineering, civil engineering, built environment and IT.
Services
The Uni-Nanny system is unique because it has completely eliminated the need for fixed units and is much more appropriate for students attendance monitoring.
There had been a series of potentially lethal incidents throughout Wales associated with high pressure air within water pipes. Our specialist water traning can help you and your staff.
